The beaches nearby are some of the best on the island. Arenal d'en Castell is a sheltered circular bay with calm water that is perfect for families. Son Parc is quieter and surrounded by pine trees. Cala Tirant is wilder and less visited, with a long stretch of sand backed by dunes. None of them are easy to reach without your own transport and all of them are within fifteen minutes of Fornells by car.
The Cami de Cavalls coastal path also passes through this part of the island and by car you can reach the most scenic sections quickly, dip in and out of the trail and cover far more ground than you would on foot alone. And if you fancy a change of scenery, Mahon to the south and Ciutadella to the west are both less than an hour away.
